Canada's Talisman Energy will hire 75 at Butler County office

Keystone Edge, 3/17/2010
Joining the Marcellus Shale boom, Canada’s Talisman Energy  will establish an office in western Pennsylvania. Moving 50 employees from other locations and hiring 75 locally, the company will be the first tenant in the Pennwood Commons development in Cranberry Township.

Although most of the company’s operations in the state will be in the northeastern counties, company spokesman Jim O’Driscoll said the volume of energy-related business activity in Pittsburgh tipped the scales to the west.

“We have chosen the Pittsburgh area for our U.S. shale headquarters as Pittsburgh is becoming the center for natural gas companies working in the Marcellus,” he said. “We selected the Warrendale district as it provides good access to our staff who travel to our operating districts in the north
east of Pennsylvania.”

Talisman Energy Inc. is a global, diversified, upstream oil and gas company, headquartered in Canada. Talisman's three main operating areas are North America, the North Sea and Southeast Asia. The Company generated a record $3.5 billion in net income last year and increased cash flow 42 percent over the previous year. The firm says it will invest $1 billion in the Marcellus Shale.
