Termaco leases manufacturing space in Berks County, plans to employ 65 over next three years

on

A Canadian manufacturer of industrial battery trays held a grand opening last week at a new 52,000-square-foot plant housed at the Premium Business Center in Berks County.

Termaco Ltd. agreed to a long-term lease with Brasler Properties and Endurance Real Estate Group for the space at PBC. Berks Economic Partnership and the Governor’s Action Team helped close the deal.

Nearby East Penn Manufacturing Co. Inc. is Termaco’s largest customer, and made PBC a logical choice for the companies operations, said General Manager Peter Schlegel. The plant has been operating since May with 20 employees. Schlegel plans to have 35 employees by May 2009 and 65 at the end of three years.

Termaco’s lease brings the 378,000-square-foot Premium Business Center to 100 percent occupancy, according to Bob Brasler. The 30-acre site also includes a distribution center occupied by Exel Logistics Power Packaging and production facilities for FiberMark, a specialty paper products manufacturer.

In addition to support from Berks Economic Partnership, about $2.7 million in Commonwealth assistance was provided for the project through the Greater Berks Development Fund.
