N.E.W. Customer Service Companies, Inc.’s creation of a customer care call center in Altoona–its 11th in the nation–will open in April with 481 jobs, according to the company.

The privately-held company, an independent third-party administrator of extended service plans, buyer protection services, customer care, and product support programs, is headquartered in Dulles, Virginia, and employs some 5,800 people nationwide. NEW will be adding more than 400 high school graduates for its Altoona center, working with consumers by phone to resolve issues with products and services, with other positions added for support and management of the call center.

Moreover, NEW established a Work-at-Home Training Center last year that currently employs 60 people from the Altoona region. The company provides a comprehensive benefits package, and those interested in applying for open positions can do so here.

In addition, NEW is also hiring trainers, technicians, representatives, managers, and supervisors who will have various responsibilities for the call center’s performance, human resources, IT, and the facility, which will be located in a former grocery store. Candidates interested in applying for the leadership and support positions can apply here.

Martin Marasco, President and CEO of the Altoona Blair County Development Corporation, a key player in bringing NEW to Altoona, celebrated the company’s expansion in Blair County and the I-99 Innovation Corridor. “With both the Work-at-Home Program and the new customer call center in Altoona employing almost 500 individuals, it is refreshing to see NEW‘s confidence in the Central Pennsylvania workforce.”

The company also provides insurance for wireless handsets and delivery and installation services that cover a wide-range of consumer products. While fully insuring consumer contract obligations, NEW also holds a patent on packaged extended service contracts, the only service contract provider to hold that protection for intellectual property.
