Coopersburg-based Lutron partners up to give hotel guests total control

on

Lutron Electronics has been largely responsible for the ability of hotel guests to dim the lights in their room. Now the company is reinventing itself with a new partnership that is shedding light on a totally advanced guest experience.

Lutron, based in Coopersburg, has partnered with Exceptional Innovation of Ohio to introduce the Lutron Hospitality Solution (LHS). Lutron combined its technology and market expertise with Exceptional Innovation’s interface and integration software to merge all guestroom technology into one integrated system.

“The goal of every hotel is to have an interconnected environment,” says Lutron marketing leader Mike Llewellyn.

Lutron, which was founded in 1961 as the inventor of the dimmer switch, entered the hospitality arena in the 1970s. Exceptional Innovation has designed software solutions for homes since 2004.

Together, they created the LSH, which allows guests pushbutton control of lighting, window treatments, and HVAC and lets them make restaurant reservations, book spa appointments, contact the concierge and reserve tee times. The LSH also brings guests the latest information regarding the surrounding community, like shopping, entertainment and transportation, extending revenue opportunities for properties.  Because it integrates with the building’s systems and allows for data sharing across the hotel’s backend, Lutron believes it has a seamless solution for both guests and hotel staff.

This week, Lutron and Exceptional Innovation are in Anaheim at HITEC 2009, pitching the product to both IT and administrative representatives from hotel properties.

“IT people say it’s great because it’s one point of control, but GMs say it’s awesome in terms of differentiating their brand experience,” says Llewellyn.
