Medium, model drive Philadelphia-based wall art outfit

Kendall Schoenrock is not shy about his appreciation for Fathead, his company’s most well-known and successful competitor that produces oversized wall graphics that depict famous athletes and entertainers. His competitor, Schoenrock says, is educating the market and has clearly defined the available pieces of a growing market.

Schoenrock’s LTLprints, however, has its own plan for expanding its digital printing and customization for oversized wall graphics that are printed on a self-adhesive material and stick to any flat surface. The company is gearing up its partner program, in which artists submit artwork or photographs and make money when customers purchase them from LTL’s catalog.

“We’re really sprinting to get larger and partner and get the model to a point where it’s attractive to lots of big-name artists,” says Schoenrock, who launched ltlprints.com with fellow entrepreneur Carsten Petzold last October.

Schoenrock calls LTLprints a “technology company that makes wall art.” It banks on the idea that junior’s tee-ball moment or that great sunset from last year’s vacation at the shore might not only look great in the living room of the beholder, but in the home of someone else halfway across the country. LTL is banking on those “artists” to drive both content and traffic.

“The artists we’re bringing to the platform help us define what we do best,” says Schoenrock. “They bring their niche markets and communities with them. Even though people are familiar with Fathead, they don’t know you can also get high quality art or cutouts of your own family at an affordable price.”
