In fact, Modjeski and Masters, which now has about 180 employees, grew its staff by 30 percent over the last two and a half years. About 80 of those workers are in its Mechanicsburg headquarters which moved into a new building Nov. 1 to accommodate the larger staff and the rest are spread out among satellite offices in Philadelphia and six other states.
Mike Britt, the company’s VP and director of project development, says Modjeski and Masters received some additional work from the federal stimulus package that was signed into law last year and included billions of dollars for infrastructure improvements nationwide. But he attributes more of the company’s recent success to its commitment to a strategic plan that called for strengthening its project management process, along with a rebranding effort emphasizing its long-term relationships with clients.
While some other engineering firms have been taken over by larger companies, Britt says Modjeski and Masters is committed to staying independent and continuing to grow.
