Industrial equipment maker moving HQ to Pittsburgh area, hiring 10

on

A Connecticut manufacturer of high-tech equipment for the electrical power, chemical and oil and gas industries is moving its headquarters to southwestern Pennsylvania.

Gardner Denver Nash, a division of the Gardner Denver industrial equipment company, is in the process of constructing a 100,000-square foot building in an industrial park in Bentleyville, about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh. By 2016 it will be the home base for administrative staff, engineers and the company distribution center now located in St. Louis.

One of Gardner Denver Nash's specialties is making pumps that can be found in power plants, paper mills and oil refineries, to name just a few places. The company also makes equipment for applications like biofuel production, soda bottling and coal mining.

Wayne Szmyt, the firm's human resources manager, says moving to Bentleyville will make it easier for Gardner Denver Nash to serve its customers in the electricity, chemical and oil and gas sectors because it already makes products for them at a plant in the Pittsburgh suburb of Elizabeth. Those workers will move to Bentleyville as part of the move. The industrial park's proximity to highways and the Pittsburgh airport were also pluses.

Szmyt says about 70 people will work at the company's new headquarters, including about 10 new hires.
