A business environment in which most companies are working to maximize their resources is a boon to consultants who help them reach that goal. Such is the case for Momentum Inc., a Harrisburg-area management consulting firm that was named No. 3521 on Inc. magazine's most recent list of the 5,000 fastest-growing businesses in America.
“Everyone wants to save costs and improve efficiency so they can grow,” says Momentum marketing specialist Megan Bowman.
The company's primary work is in information technology consulting. Its customers include state, local and federal government agencies along with businesses in the private sector. Clients are mostly in Pennsylvania, but some are in Maryland and Georgia.
About two months ago Momentum began training contractors to be certified to recycle electronics. These contractors will be able to work for companies that need laptops, cell phones and other electronics recycled properly and ensure that each piece of data stored on business-owned electronics is destroyed first. Momentum's goal is to offer this certification to interested contractors nationwide.
The firm currently has 35 employees and relies on another 15 subcontractors. Bowman says plans for the coming year include expanding Momentum's geographic reach by taking on projects for more state and local governments in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
