Turkey Day Games: Keystone Edge Off For Thanksgiving

on

If you've ever donned your school colors on a brisk Thanksgiving morning before thousands of local fans, hoping for victory and turkey all in the same dream, then Turkey Day is an especially meaningful time — giving thanks for youth, for friends and family, for the chance to play and compete, and yes, that bounty of food waiting back at home.

Having played on Turkey Day for East Stroudsburg (South) High School in Monroe County, and getting the chance to win the coveted Little Brown Jug as a senior and walk back home after beating crosstown rival Stroudsburg, I know first hand the jitters and joys at stake next week. Check out this book for stories about Thanksgiving rivalries in the Lehigh Valley.

In that spirit, Keystone Edge is taking Thanksgiving week off to take in the best that our high school footballers have to offer. We'll return with a fresh issue on Dec. 1.

Happy Thanksgiving,
-Joe
