Thanks to Harrisburg company, employee benefit managers have new tool to increase productivity

on

Businesses that are in the same industry, following the same rules, largely complete the same tasks, even if they follow different procedures. A new software program from a Harrisburg firm that serves administrators of employee benefits aims to simplify the processes these companies follow in the course of their work.

PensionPro Software works in a specific niche, providing software for companies that manage employee benefits such as pensions and retirement plans. Company founder Renée Conner explains that these benefit managers have to follow specific regulations, but each works a bit differently. That's why PensionPro's software is designed to work for any company in the field. “We don't tell them how to run their business,” Conner says. “We put the structure around their business model.”

In June PensionPro released a new product called Workflow. This software shows employees the different steps they need to follow to complete their assigned tasks. Managers can log into the system and check on how different projects are progressing. Conner says this format makes it easier for new employees to learn how a business goes about completing different tasks. “We document the process so everyone follows the same procedures and rules, but in an automated way,” she explains.

So far about 30 clients are using Workflow, which Conner says is an impressive number given the specific audience it is meant for. She expects a total of 100 businesses to be using it by the end of 2012.
