Upcoming: Startup Weekend Lancaster

on

Now in its second year, Startup Weekend Lancaster will allow would-be founders to workshop ideas and improve their entrepreneurial instincts. It will be held February 21 to 23 at the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Southern Market Center (100 S. Queen Street).

Startup Weekend, a global organization, encourages communities of entrepreneurs to communicate and collaborate. Anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea. Teams then form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote). After that, participants have only 54 hours to create a business model, code, design and validate the market for their brainchild. The weekends concludes with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders, including Charlie Crystal, Chuck Russell, Kyle Sollenberger and Oliver Feakins.

Last year in Lancaster, 36 people attended, divided into seven teams. Participants of all ages from diverse professional backgrounds — business, technology, design — came from the Lehigh Valley and all over central Pennsylvania. The winner was Amazi, a business dedicated to making sustainable bottled water.

Who will come out on top this year? Check out our recap in next week's Keystone Edge. And it's not too late to sign up; click here to register.
