C and J Industries expands Meadville facility, expects future hiring

on

An injection molding and manufacturing company in Meadville is planning a $6 million expansion project that is expected to allow for more employees.

C&J Industries
, which makes products for the medical, pharmaceutical and industrial markets, among others, expects construction will start next month on the addition, which will add rooms for molding and product assembly, a quality assurance lab and warehouse space. It will also free up space in the facility’s offices and clean room, which is necessary for manufacturing many specialty products.

The move shows the uptick in business at C&J, a 260-employee firm that has hired about 50 workers since the beginning of 2010.

“We are growing, and we needed more space,” says Stephanie Goss, the firm’s marketing and sales coordinator.

C&J expects to be able to hire more people after the six-month expansion project is finished. It’s still too early to say how many workers will be needed, Goss says.

She says the company’s diverse product line has allowed it to thrive. C&J makes goods such as syringes, industrial fan blades, fiber optic adapters and heat-sealed packages for medical components. C&J has spent the last several years adding to its manufacturing capabilities in the medical field, Goss says.
