Spectacle: ‘Bella Italia’ at the 2009 Philadelphia Flower Show

on

We have a way to beat the late winter drag: The Philadelphia Flower Show. This year’s theme, ‘Bella Italia,’ offers an explosion of spring colors amid Tuscan terraces and Roman statues–even a few Venetian canals. Outside might be March snow and ice, but inside the show it’s an Italian paradise.

The Philadelphia Flower Show is oldest and largest show of its kind in the United States, attracting some 250,000 visitors a year and producing a $30 million economic boost for restaurants, hotels, shops, businesses, and cultural attractions in and around Philadelphia. The show also helps supports the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s urban revitalization program, Philadelphia Green, which restores neighborhood parks, builds community gardens and reclaims empty lots.
