Ever since German immigrants settled the York County area more than 250 years ago, manufacturing has been among its trademarks. From the first iron steamboat and first coal locomotive in the country to the latest Harley-Davidson motorcycles, York has made most everything imaginable.
As “Factory Tour Capital of the World,” York boasts more than a dozen opportunities to see how things are made there. Keystone Edge photographer Brad Bower hopped onboard and captured the old and new, sleek and simple, loud and sweet-sounding as he visited Bube’s Brewery, the Susquehanna Glass Factory, George’s Woodcrafts, Harley-Davidson and Bluette Brothers Violins.
