BitArmor closes on $5M, hiring across the board

Pittsburgh startup BitArmor is taking its data protection software to new levels this year.

Fueled
with $5 million in Series B financing from Draper Triangle and other
investors, the firm will expand its channels for product distribution
with the hiring of a sales support team around the country as well as
engineering and market talent at home, says Patrick McGregor, CEO.

The company’s headcount grew by 43 percent in 2008 with the addition of
four vice presidents to the executive team. Sales in 2008 exceeded that
of 2007 by nearly 200 percent. The company closed their first
international sale and has added new customers in healthcare, education
and the federal government, which will be a major focus moving forward.
