Pittsburgh’s Brunner Inc. hiring 25 in the new year

Brunner Inc., the second largest ad agency in Pittsburgh, is ramping up for the new year with the hiring of 25 people at its downtown headquarters.

CEO Michael Brunner credited much of the growth to the firm’s new integrated approach that marries marketing and technology.

Last October the agency launched a new consumer promotional services group which developed a “shopper marketing” approach aimed at helping clients to engage with consumers at the point of purchase. David Lied, vice president, and Ron Jesiolowski, director of marketing services, joined Brunner to launch the new group, which will gain from some of the new hires, says Brunner.

Most of the hiring will be new and for mid-level jobs, openings for creative, account management, media and digital employees, all in the Pittsburgh office. Brunner has offices in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta as well. The company employs 180 people in total.

“It’s (shopper marketing) not new, but with the continuing advent of technology there’s more and more ways to go about it. We’re finding ways to make a stronger connection with the consumer through all forms and phases of marketing,” says Brunner.

Despite the economy in 2009, Brunner won several key clients including Beazer Homes USA, Bob Evans Restaurant and Huffy Bicycle Company. Brunner predicted that 2010 will bring at least a 20 percent increase in business. The company reported 2008 revenues of $24.2 million and annual capitalized billings of $200 million.

“We’ve stood the test of time. We will do our best to grow,” says Brunner.
