Bethlehem-bound EggZack simplifies online marketing for small businesses, doubling staff

Marketing to a local audience once meant advertising in a local newspaper, on a few radio and TV stations, and little else. Things are far different now that nearly everyone is on the Internet. “Online marketing is a lot harder because it's so fragmented,” says Jon Zack, founder of marketing company EggZack.

His company handles Internet marketing tasks that can ordinarily take up thousands of hours each month. With EggZack's simple system, clients can log in and choose which information to update on various channels such as social media, email lists, local websites and the company website. The updates are completed all at once instead of one piece at a time. “One of the biggest problems small businesses have getting their information online is that it's too time-consuming or too expensive,” Zack says.

The business is currently based in Flemington, N.J., although several of its six employees work virtually. EggZack is in the process of moving its operations to Bethlehem to take advantage of a talented work force. Another driver behind the move was the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania, which is loaning EggZack $20,000 toward doubling its work force.

The company's plans for the near future include opening regional offices in cities such as Chicago and Houston to add to its list of about 1,000 clients – its target market is businesses with 10 employees or fewer. EggZack also hopes to develop partnerships with regional trade associations that can offer members benefits for using the company's services.
