Linear Acoustic, a Lancaster company that specializes in TV sound-control equipment, has collected a pile of awards. In January it received an Emmy Award for engineering and technical achievement. “Who else in Pennsylvania can say that they’ve won an Emmy?” asks Christina Carroll, senior VP of global sales.
It’s received a host of other industry awards over the years as well. And you’ve heard Linear Acoustic at work if you’ve ever watched Saturday Night Live, TODAY or any Olympic event broadcast on TV from 2008 on. Doubtless millions of viewers appreciate its advances in developing technology that prevents TV advertisements from being too loud while keeping quieter parts of a show audible.
Last month Linear Acoustic garnered the Technology Company of the Year award from TECHQuest, the trade association for Pennsylvania’s technology industry. And Carroll says the company never would have gotten where it is today with out the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central and Northern Pennsylvania, which was the first outside investor in Linear Acoustic after it moved from New Jersey to Lancaster in 2004. That loan and business mentoring helped enable the company to grow to the 20 employees and $6 million in annual revenue that it has today. Carroll says Linear Acoustic’s goal is to grow to $15 million in annual revenue over the next five years.
