A business incubator in Carlisle will soon house a mentoring operation designed just for entrepreneurs in the technology sector.
The Ben Franklin TechCelerator Program, which will be based at the Murata Business Center, will include a dedicated facility where startup owners can work on their concepts and business plans. Assistance from experts at Murata and the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central and Northern Pennsylvania will come with the facility, called the TechCelerator Zone. The project is a collaboration among Murata, Ben Franklin and the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC.
Entrepreneurs will have 60 days to take advantage of the program. During that time they’ll work on turning their concepts into businesses. Pam Martin, executive director of the TechCelerator program, says it’s aimed at startups focused on technology, such as software or light manufacturing. Right now, Martin expects fewer than 10 entrepreneurs to take part at a time.
Those who take part will be asked to contribute $100. Aspiring business owners will be able to fit the mentoring program into any commitments they have from other jobs. Organizers hope to begin the TechCelerator program in March, Martin says.
